About the Workshop:

Contemporary Fusion Film Workshop: Class begins with a flow-style warmup and stretch. Dancers will move through improvisational tasks before moving into a combination. Choreography will focus on textures, dynamics, musicality, and discovering new movement pathways. After a combination is learned, dancers will begin working on film and camera techniques while staging and capturing their movement.

Melinda Matticotti

Get to know Melinda

Melinda Matticoli (She/Her/Hers) is an award-winning dancer, choreographer, educator, director, and filmmaker from Skillman, New Jersey, working out of New York City and Los Angeles. Melinda has worked with creators including Parth Sethi, Steven Blandino, Kevin Jenkins, Aspen Waddell, and Nicole Fosse. Melinda began professionally choreographing at 17, and has worked with brands like Peerspace, Goldfish, and 8Greens.

Melinda began her dance training at the age of 3 and went to train at Broadway Dance Center's Children and Teens program (Jamison Novello Scholarship Recipient). In her professional career, she has performed alongside the band "Cold Weather Company" and The Verdon Fosse Legacy, performing in the iconic number "Who's Got the Pain?" from Damn Yankees. She has also presented work at Club Jeté, Sybarite Love is Love, Club NYC, and Journey Dance Awards. Melinda's work on film has also been presented at film festivals including Dance Films Lab, New York International Film Awards, and Los Angeles Film Awards.

Melinda's passion for teaching has allowed her to teach at countless studios across the country. She currently guest teaches at T Milly, Movement Lifestyle, Soul de Soul Dance Convention, Genesis Studios, Lume Dance Training, Carbon the Collective, UPenn Arts House, and is on the screening committee for Dance Camera West. As a DEEA-certified educator, Melinda hopes to share her passion for dance to help uplift and inspire others in an uplifting and collaborative space.
