This was Lydia's first spotlight class since she last taught at the studio and we're really appreciative to the support from our amazing students. Lydia Chon (she/her) is a New Orleans-born dancer and resides in the Bay Area. She has danced for over 15 years and is trained in jazz, jazz funk, contemporary, modern, lyrical, and hip hop.
She started her dance journey when she was 11 years old in a dance team. She trained and danced competitively with her team in pom-dance, kick-dance, jazz, contemporary, modern, lyrical, and hip hop. She was honored to be a member of the American All-Star Team where she performed internationally. She also trained separately from her team and danced competitively as a soloist. Lydia continues her training locally with City Dance SF, RAE Studios, Full Out, The Company, and Alonzo King Lines Ballet. Outside of the Bay Area, she trains at Playground LA. During her competitive dancing career as a soloist, she has placed in the following: 2012 Junior Division Soloist - 5th place, Marching Auxiliary Gulf Coast Regional Competition, 2013 Senior Division Soloist - 2nd place, Marching Auxiliary Gulf Coast Regional Competition, and 2014 Senior Division Soloist - 1st place, Marching Auxiliary Gulf Coast Regional Competition. She started her dance teaching career in 2018 with Uforia Dance Studio. Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit world-wide, she started teaching virtually through RAE Studios for Cardio Fusion and KPOP. Going back to her roots, she began teaching Jazz Funk and Contemporary in 2022.
Lydia has been part of RAE Agency since 2019. She danced in corporate gigs with Apple, Coldwell Banker, Aviator Nation, Samsung, and Pegasus Tech Venture. She also danced in a MV for Vikas Marwaha - RAAHI. She was a NBA Warriors dance team finalist for the 2021-2022 season and 2022-2023 season.
Lydia continues her dance training in different styles and genres. She is currently training in a Bay Area Competitive Hip Hop Dance Crew.
