About the Spotlight:
In this class we will focus on technique, foundation, freestyle, and history of Whacking. This class is catered to all levels of learners from beginners to more advanced students who have familiarity of the dance form. My hope is that every student should be leaving class feeling confident and with tools to improve holistically as a dancer. Goals for the class: students should be able to learn foundation, technique, musicality, and a bit of freestyle. Additionally student should also know a little historical context of the dance as well.

Get to know Jack
Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Jack Rushford is a dancer, director, educator, and choreographer with expertise in W*acking. Over the past 15 years, Jack has honed their expertise in W*acking, a journey that has involved rigorous training and a deep-seated passion for the art form. Jack's approach to dance education is deeply rooted in culture and community, and they are committed to sharing their skills and knowledge with others. Their training journey has been enriched by learning from a host of renowned W*ackers and Punkers, including the likes of Jee Wee Kalua, Archie Burnette, Lorena Valenzuela, Viktor Manolo, and Kumari Suraj, among others. Jack's teaching experience spans across the Bay Area, having taught at esteemed studios such as Full Out Studios, On One, City Dance, Enjoy (EDS), and LNGDS Dance Studio. Currently, Jack co-teaches a bi-weekly All Level W*acking class with Gail G-Funk at In the Groove Studios. Jack is eager to continue sharing their passion for W*acking and Punking Culture with the community, inspiring others through their love for dance.
